Introduction

Name of Project : Quizzical an Offline Trivia

Introduction : These days the pressure of the competitive exams is increasing day by day, therefore such an online quiz will help the students to overcome this pressure and improve their preparations. It will help the students in making their study hours more productive. The main aim of our project is to create a user friendly environment with quality questions so that the users try the quizzes and trivia and improve his/ her skills.Possibly the best way to implement what the player learns and reduce the cost of study material. The two-player format of this game helps in maintaining the competitive spirit and quicker memorization.Targeting the masses so as to enable support for wide range of cheaper handsets.

Online Quizzes and trivia have three main components:

  • A binary file storing questions.
  • A binary file storing the answers.
  • A database storing the results.

A binary file contains a pre-defined question bank. The concept of data file handling and database management is efficiently implemented along with the graphical user interface to make the quiz attractive and convincing source or overall development of the user.

The game can be played in offline mode. It can be used to conduct quizzes in classrooms replacing the traditional pen and paper technique. It will give quick results. The solution to the problems can be obtained instantly. Moreover performance can be evaluated in the form of bar graphs and fellow students can compare and analyse their result.

One can control and monitor the applications from any part of the world provided the service is available. These applications are discussed in further chapters.

Existing System

Here’s a list of the most famous online and offline quizzes available in the market.

  1. World Capitals Quiz Trivia: You get a chance to test your capital knowledge in this quiz/trivia and check out whether you are as good as you think or actually learn sometimes. Drawbacks- This app isn’t good enough to put up with spam plus this app pushes out ads.
  2. Music Hits Quiz: This app tests your knowledge about various genres of music such as pop, rock, r&b/rnb, dance, punk and hip hop music.
Drawbacks- After playing it for about 30 minutes we had it memorized. Need more questions, ALOT more. Moreover, the game is full of mistakes.
  3. Liverpool FC Quiz: Single/two-player soccer trivia to test your football knowledge. It has a vast collection of questions about Premier League, Champions League and current and former players like Steven Gerrard, JammieCarragher, Dirk Kuyt and Fernando Torres. Drawbacks- Every other question is about how many goals, defeats and wins in a season, which seems quite boring..!!! Rather questions should be about history, players, transfers, etc.
  4. Tour de France Quiz: Thrilling single/two players trivia about tour de France. You can compete with your friends and see who knows the most about France. Drawbacks- Not so addictive, and seems to be boring after sometime, since every other question is about France only.
  5. Flags and Capitals Quiz: Quiz yourself and learn about flags of all UN-recognized sovereigns. Various quiz modes are available such as guess flag from country name, country from flag, country from capital, etc. Drawbacks- The UI seems to work only for a fixed screen size. It does not work for Samsung Galaxy Y. Part of the UI is not visible.

Proposed System

Main objective of this application is that it can be played in offline mode.

Implication

Conclusion

At this initial level, QUIZZICAL is working properly and as per our expectations. But we definitely look forward to take this application one step further. We will make a larger database with lot more questions and lot more subjects. This database could also be updated online. The application would be connected through internet so that a large number of students can take tests online.
